“A quiet suburban street on a summer evening, tracking shot alongside a seven-year-old girl on a small red bicycle without stabilisers, in this order: her dad runs beside her holding the back of the saddle; he lets go and slows to a stop; she wobbles; she steadies and pedals on alone; she rings her handlebar bell twice; she glances back over her shoulder grinning. Bicycle bell, footsteps, birdsong. Photo-real, golden light, single continuous take.”

Close on an elderly grandmother's floury hands at a wooden kitchen table, in this exact order: first she rolls a small round dumpling wrapper with a thin rolling pin; second she spoons pork and chive filling into its centre; third she pleats the edge shut with quick fingers; fourth she sets the dumpling in a bamboo steamer beside a dozen others; fifth she lifts the steamer lid and a cloud of steam rolls up. Soft kitchen sounds, rolling pin on wood, a pot simmering. Photo-real, warm window light, single continuous shot.
